I was asked by Great Grounds if I would travel down to their education centre in Dilhorn, Staffordshire, to document another one of their open days. Great Grounds are a regular client I’ve been photographing for a couple of years now. They are one of the North West’s leading landscape contractors, specialising in school garden projects, as well as the commercial and public sector.
As well as their commercial landscape business, they run education days at both their centre in Staffordshire and at schools across the North West.
The children are given demonstrations throughout the day and take part in a number of interactive experiences, including chain-saw demonstrations, how to make their own plant pots out of newspaper, woodland nature trails and learning how to measure a tree’s age.
The guys at Great Grounds are super passionate about taking kids out of inner city schools and giving them an experience they’ll remember . It’s a joy to watch the children explore the fantastic facilities and see how genuinely interested they are in learning about the environment.
It’s always a pleasure when I receive a call from Tony at Great Grounds, because I know I’ll get to hang out and have fun with a great bunch of kids, in a glorious green space.
